Aquario Neo Guard

A liquid water conditioner that removes excess phosphate from the water column — meaning the tank water itself, rather than the substrate or the filter.

Phosphate is a nutrient that arrives mainly through fish food and tap water. Plants and algae both feed on it, so when there is more of it than the plants can use, the surplus goes to the algae.

In Aquario's own words: “Bad algae are more likely to occur if there is too much phosphate in the water plants tank. Neo Guard removes excess phosphates in the water. Therefore, it effectively prevents the occurrence of bad algae not only at the beginning of setting but also after that.”

What that does in a tank: phosphate is one half of the nutrient pair that feeds most algae, so this removes a driver rather than killing algae already present. It is not an algaecide (a chemical that kills algae outright) and will not clear an existing outbreak on its own. Phosphate mostly arrives through food and tap water, so dosing works best alongside a look at feeding and source water.

Dosing — note it changes with tank age:

• Up to 10 days after setting up: 10 ml per 60 L
• From day 11 onward: 5 ml per 60 L
• Aquario recommend dosing the day before a water change
• 300 ml cap = 5 ml · 1 L cap = 10 ml

• Removes excess phosphate, a primary driver of algae
• Not an algaecide — it removes a cause rather than treating existing growth
• Higher dose for the first 10 days of a new setup, then halved — see above
• Earlier “immune support” framing seen on some reseller listings is not an Aquario claim and is not repeated here
