Snowflake Galaxy Sulawesi Shrimp | Mid & High
A black shrimp scattered with white-to-blue snowflake spots — a Cardinal in negative.
Arrives young; the spotting sharpens as they grow. It needs decent light to show at all.
Two grades, Mid and High, set by how dense the snowflake spotting already is when we pull them, and how dark the black under it is.
An advanced one, and a warning: it wants hard, warm, alkaline water — the exact opposite of our Galaxy Fishbone and Galaxy Tiger, which are bee shrimp despite the shared name. Numbers in the FAQ.
Think of it as the Cardinal in negative: an all-over black body carrying the same scatter of white to pale blue spots, dense enough on the best animals to read as snowflakes. The name is apt — at the right angle it genuinely looks like a night sky.
A selectively bred strain developed in captivity rather than a wild lake form.
An advanced strain, with the same water demands as the rest of the genus.
Not to be confused with our Caridina Galaxy lines — Galaxy Fishbone, Galaxy Tiger and the rest are bee shrimp and want the exact opposite water.
We grade by the traits that genuinely vary within a batch. Here two things do: the spotting, and the black under it. Mid carries a clear but open scatter of spots, and some start with a lighter, brownish black that darkens as they mature. High carries the denser, more even snowflake coverage over a darker, thicker black from the start, in limited numbers. The water demands are identical on both.
Grading is done by eye at shipping size, on what the shrimp shows then. Every shrimp arrives pale from the trip and colours back up within hours to a few days.

Lighting matters. The spotting is the whole point and it needs light to show.
Captive-bred — necessarily so for a strain that exists only in captivity.
The photo shows a high-grade or best-looking adult from the batch. We ship unsexed juveniles, 0.6–1.2 cm — too young to tell male from female.
