Aquario Neo Solution 1

The macronutrient backbone of the Aquario Neo range — nitrogen, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus for plants that need feeding, not just light and CO2.

In a planted tank, light and CO2 (carbon dioxide — the gas plants photosynthesise with) only get you halfway — plants still need a steady macronutrient supply (the nutrients they consume in bulk) to push new growth, and low-tech (no injected CO2) or lightly-stocked shrimp tanks especially can run short on nitrogen, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus once plant mass builds up. Aquario Neo Solution 1 is a liquid macronutrient fertiliser formulated to cover that gap, dosed straight into the water column — the open water itself, rather than the substrate (the material covering the tank floor).

It's designed to be used alongside the rest of the Neo range — Neo Solution 2 covers the micronutrient side (iron, trace elements — minerals needed only in tiny amounts — and amino acids), and the Neo Tab root tabs (fertiliser tablets pushed into the substrate) feed root-hungry plants like swords and crypts — Amazon swords and Cryptocoryne, classic root-feeding species — directly at the substrate. Running Solution 1 with Solution 2 gives a fuller macro-plus-micro routine rather than relying on one bottle to do everything.

Aquario's own dosing guidance isn't published with exact NPK percentages (the nitrogen–phosphorus–potassium ratio most fertilisers print on the label), so treat any rate as a starting point rather than a fixed rule. The dosing pattern most commonly cited by resellers is roughly 2mL per 5 US gallons (≈19 litres) every 2–3 days — start conservative, watch how your plants respond over a couple of weeks, and adjust up or down for your plant mass, light level and tank size.
