A pressed root tab carrying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium straight to the roots of your heaviest feeders.

Not every plant feeds mainly from the water column (the open water itself) — root feeders like swords and crypts (Amazon swords and Cryptocoryne, classic root-feeding species) pull a good share of their nutrition through the substrate — the material covering the tank floor — and dosing the water alone can leave them short even in an otherwise well-fertilised tank. Aquario Neo Tab Plant 1 is a pressed root tab (a fertiliser tablet pushed into the substrate) containing nitrogen, phosphoric acid and potassium, pushed into the substrate near the root zone of the plants that need it.

It's designed to run alongside the liquid Neo Solution range, not replace it — root tabs feed roots directly, while Solution 1/2 handle the water-column side for stem and floating plants. Push the tab in gently near (not directly against) the root ball — the clump of roots at the plant's base — a few centimetres deep, and avoid disturbing it once it's placed.

As a root tab it's a slower, more contained release than the liquid Solutions, so it's a reasonable low-maintenance option for anyone who doesn't want to dose the water column daily. Exact release duration and nutrient content aren't published by Aquario, so we'd suggest replacing tabs on a schedule you tune to your own tank's growth rather than a fixed interval.
