Description
A ceramic shrimp cave is a small fired-clay shelter with narrow openings. Shrimp are at their most vulnerable just after a moult, when they shed the old shell and the new one stays soft for around 24 to 72 hours. During that window they are slow and hide, and a tight enclosed space is where they sit it out. Fired ceramic is inert, so it does not change water chemistry.

Usage & Instructions
Rinse and place it on the substrate in a quiet corner or under plants. Moss or Anubias can be tied or glued to the outside to blend it in and add more cover. Lift and shake it out during water changes if detritus collects inside.
Risk & Awareness
Check that every opening is large enough for the biggest animal likely to try it; fish such as bettas may attempt to enter and get stuck. Glazed or painted ceramics from outside the aquarium trade can leach; use only unglazed or aquarium-safe glazed pieces. Sharp chipped edges can cut, so discard a cracked cave.
