Description
A TDS meter is a pen-style electronic meter that reads total dissolved solids, everything dissolved in the water added together, in parts per million (ppm). It works by measuring how well the water conducts electricity. It cannot tell you what is dissolved, only how much, so it does not replace a GH or KH test. Its strength is speed, which makes it a convenient way to notice change between water changes.

Usage & Instructions
Remove the cap, switch on, dip the probe into the water to the marked depth and wait for the number to settle. Rinse the probe in clean water and dry it after use. Check the meter against a calibration solution from time to time and adjust as the maker's instructions describe.
Risk & Awareness
Two water samples with the same TDS can have very different GH and KH, so do not use the meter on its own to judge whether water is right for moulting shrimp. Readings drift if the probe is dirty or the battery is low.
